MTV’s Nina Blackwood & Producer Howard Perl return home to Cleveland to Host Show!

MTV VJ Nina Blackwood Returns with Howard Perl to host Cleveland show.

Former Geauga County resident Nina Blackwood will return to the Cleveland area on November 8th for Rock & Roll to the Rescue Part 2: (Eddie) Money for the Animals.   Blackwood became a household name in 1981 as a member of MTV’s original VJ lineup.  Still an iconic force, she currently hosts several radio programs including Nina Blackwood’s Absolutely ‘80s, New Wave, and Sirius XM’s ‘80s on 8 and co-authored VJ: The Unplugged Adventures of MTV’s First Wave.

Not only is Blackwood happy to come home, she is also a supporter of the Rock & Roll to the Rescue cause.  “I’m thrilled and honored to be part of this event as my deepest passion is loving and helping animals in any way I can,” she said.

Eddie Money will headline Part 2, which raises funds for Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village.  It is the first Rocksino appearance for the legendary rocker known for hits such as “Two Tickets to Paradise,”  “Take Me Home Tonight,” and “Baby Hold On.”

The benefit follows January’s sold out inaugural event, which featured Chubby Checker and was hailed by The Plain Dealer as “one of the best evenings of the year.”

The Rock & Roll to the Rescue concert concept was developed by Howard Perl, CEO of Howard Perl Productions, as a way to put a unique spin on traditional fundraising efforts.  Perl, an executive in the entertainment industry and creator of The Barkley Pet Hotel & Day Spa brand, saw it as a way to combine his background with his love of animals and raise money for an important cause.

“Just like the original, Part 2 will be a fun night packed with music, auctions, and celebrities all to help the homeless dogs, cats, horses, & other animals at Rescue Village,” Perl said.  “It’s going to be a great show for an even better cause.”

In addition to Money and Blackwood, many other guests are slated to share the spotlight, including Fox 8’s Dick Goddard, and recording artist Aleem.

Rock & Roll to the Rescue Part 2, presented by Ganley Subaru of Bedford and The Barkley Pet Hotel & Day Spa, will take place Sunday, November 8th at the Hard Rock Rocksino –  Northfield Park, located at 10777 Northfield Road in Northfield, Ohio. A pre-show cocktail fundraiser begins at 6:00 pm with showtime set for 7:30 pm.  Tickets starting at $25 are available at the Rocksino box office or through Ticketmaster. Attendees must be 21 and over.

Rescue Village, located in Russell Township, is a vital center for animal welfare in Northeast Ohio.  Animals at Rescue Village are cared for until they find a new home and are never euthanized due to age, special needs, or lack of space.  100% of the care of these animals comes from private donations.  For more information about their mission, please visit geaugahumane.org.
