‘DJ Perl’ hits the air
Most people begin their careers after college, but one AU freshman has a head start. Howard Perlmuter, a radio/television major from Pepper Pike, has been a disc jockey for six years.
Perlmuter, or DI Perl as he is known on WRDL FM. was featured in a Plain Dealer article which highlighted his career as a rap music artist.
On June 17, Perlmuter’s self-produced rap album was released. The record contains over 60 samples including such artists as the “Beastie Boys.”
The album was released, according to Perlmuter, to get him noticed in the industry. Perlmuter chose rap music because of the creativity it allows.
Perlmuter realizes that it is difficult to break into the
recording industry.
“There will always be someone who is not going to like your music or someone who is not going to like you.”
Perlmuter plans to release a follow up album with more rhythm and blues selections on it in 1993.
Perimuter decided to attend school in Ashland mainlv because it is close to his home, but he also likes the small size of the University.
