Perlmuter sold to Brit firm; 400-employee operation fetches $35M cash from London-based printer.

Perlmuter Printing Co., Northeast Ohio’s largest commercial printer, has been bought by St. Ives ple of London, a major European printer that is seeking to expand its U.S. operations.
St. Ives, a publicly owned company, said it paid $35 million in cash this month for the family-owned Perlmuter, which was founded in 1917. The local company occupies a 220,000-square-foot plant at 4437 E. 49th St.
Perlumter employs 300 full-time and 100 part-time workers and is one of the largest commercial printers in the United States, according to company estimates.
